Solar rebates are making solar more affordable for Bendigo

Up to $1,400, or 50% of the purchase cost, whichever is lower

The Solar Victoria solar panel (PV) rebate is a discount of up to 50% of the purchase cost, to a maximum of $1,400, and it is calculated after other discounts including your STCs. It is open to owner-occupiers and rental providers, and to homes under construction.

To qualify, the combined household taxable income of all owners must be under $150,000 a year, the property must be valued under $3 million, and the address must not have had a solar panel system installed in the last 10 years. Rebates are released in capped monthly batches, so timing matters. We lodge the application as part of your job.

Federal discount worth around 30% on a typical home battery

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program discounts eligible battery systems between 5kWh and 100kWh of nominal capacity, delivered as small-scale technology certificates on the first 50kWh of usable capacity. It replaced Solar Victoria's interest-free battery loans, which closed to new applications in 2025.

Since 1 May 2026 the support is tiered: the full rate applies to the first 14kWh of usable capacity, then 60% from 14kWh to 28kWh, then 15% up to 50kWh. The rate also steps down every six months until the scheme ends in 2030. There is no income or means test. Your battery must be on the Clean Energy Council approved product list and installed by an accredited installer, and we apply the discount to your quote.

Up to $1,000, or up to $1,400 for eligible locally made products

The Solar Victoria hot water rebate is a 50% rebate on the purchase price of an eligible heat pump or solar hot water system, up to $1,000. Choose an eligible locally made product and the rebate rises to up to $1,400.

It applies to existing homes, not homes under construction, and the system being replaced must be at least 3 years old. The same income and property tests as the panel rebate apply: household taxable income under $150,000 and property value under $3 million. Worth knowing: from 1 March 2027 existing Victorian homes replacing a gas hot water system at end of life will need to fit an efficient electric alternative.
