Enphase IQ8HC & IQ8AC Microinverters
Enphase IQ8 microinverters convert power at each individual panel rather than for the whole array at once. That means one shaded, dirty or underperforming panel does not drag down the rest of the string.
This is the option we reach for on complex roofs: multiple orientations, dormers, chimneys, or trees that throw shade across part of the array through the day. You also get per-panel monitoring, so a problem is traced to a single module rather than a whole string.
Microinverters cost more per watt than a single string inverter, so we only recommend them where the roof genuinely calls for it. We will tell you honestly which suits your place. Specifications are in the datasheet below.
